Curry-N-A-Hurry
is a family-owned, vegetarian-friendly Caribbean restaurant
that opened on Jordan Lane in October of 2005. The
owner, Angie Singh was born in Trinidad & Tobago,
and she gets most of her recipes & cooking styles
from her mother. Angie's husband Jerry, who was born
in Guyana, also adds an authentic Caribbean flair
to the restaurant. Her son Marc and daughter Anissa
came up with the name "Curry-N-A-Hurry",
both fun and catchy, the restaurant lives up to the
name. The owner and her husband moved here from Toronto,
Canada where there seemed to be a Caribbean restaurant
on every corner. When she came to Huntsville, she
saw a need in the community for good, healthy, traditional
Caribbean food. Originally she did not know much about
cooking but was a quick study, getting plenty of authentic
advice from her mother on how to make her favorite
recipes.
Curry-N-A-Hurry is committed to a healthy lifestyle
and provides
an excellent alternative to your average greasy fast-food,
without sacrificing anything for convenience. First
and foremost, Curry-N-A-Hurry offers a diverse selection
of vegetarian and meat-substitute meals. The owner
herself is a vegetarian, as are many members of the
nearby community. In addition to the commitment to
making vegetarian and vegan meals, Curry-N-A-Hurry
also offers authentic, traditional, low-cholesterol
Caribbean meat dishes. The food preparation uses very
little oil, no butter, and uses fresh, "from
scratch" ingredients. The restaurant made a perfect
score on the very first inspection from the Health
Department. |
